Oliver Tomajko's Abzan Reanimator

Graveyard strategies are some of the most successful decks in today's Standard environment. The format offers us a great selection of self-mill cards in Satyr Wayfinder and Commune with the Gods. Satyr Wayfinder is one of the best utility spells in Standard right now. It helps find a land you need, which is important if you're playing a three-color deck, it fills up your graveyard for spells like Whip of Erebos, and can be exploited with Sidisi, Undead Vizier.

My favorite new addition to Abzan Reanimator is Den Protector from Dragons of Tarkir. Most self-mill spells only instruct you to put a specific card type in your hand, like creature or land. Sometimes you really need to draw a removal spell and it feels really bad when you mill them away. Den Protector lets you get back any card that you may have lost in previous turns. Getting back any card is pretty flexible, and while Den Protector is a bit mana intensive (three to cast face-down and two to activate megamorph), being able to get back a removal spell, a Whip of Erebos, an important creature that died, or even a land makes it totally worth it.

Oliver chose to play a few one-ofs in his list, and I think his choices are great. These are cards that you're happy to draw against some opponents but don't really want against others, like Reclamation Sage. Playing self-mill spells allow you to burn through your deck quickly and let you see more cards than most other decks. Even if your one Reclamation Sage or Sidisi, Undead Vizier ends up in your graveyard early in the game, you have plenty of ways to get them back if you need to.
